A privacy policy is a declaration or a legal document (in privacy law) which discloses a party’s collection, use, disclosure and management of a customer or customer information in some or all ways.

Personal information can be any information that can be used to identify a person, not just the person’s name, address, birthday date, marital status, contact details, identifying identity and date of expiry, financial records, credit details, medical history of the person who travels, or the intent to buy goods and services.

It tells the customer which personal information is collected, whether private, exchanged with partners or sold to other companies. In contrast to data usage statements which tend to be more detailed and precise, privacy policies usually imply broad, more widespread treatment.
